I bought quite a lot of the 2004 Dalsheimer Hubacker Riesling Spätlese in its early years, after being totally blown away of its quality price ratio. Even if I had the wine’s future set; cellaring for at least four or five years, it was so delicious back in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and yes, in 2010!
A recent bottle still showed a youthful style although the bouquet slowly changes towards a more minerally approach. But the acidity, sweetness and excellent fruit in the mouth are pure silk and just keeps on going. Klaus Peter Keller is the true master of seduction when it comes to lieblich Riesling; 2004 the most neglected vintage if you’re a terroirist!
When drinking wines like this I often find myself forgetting about taking notes, or even care. It’s pure drinking pleasure and what wine is all about in the end.
Life’s good when the grape juice’s delivered by Keller!
